118 gr MKZ Cavity Back Bullet Thru 5 layers of Bone

Shot this 210 lb boar at 156 yards according to the GPS. Due to the crosswind, the bullet actually entered a tad farther forward than I would have liked, but it drilled through the shield, scapula (1), ribs (2), vertebral centrum that shattered (3), ribs (4), and through the other scapula (5) before being stopped by the shield on the other side. It lost its petals along the way, but I am confident that my SSTs would not do quite as well.

Another great video DNS, thanks for posting! I like the looks of the Cavity Back Bullets, pretty significant penetration considering velocity.

I don't have a scale that will weigh small. Sorry.

I took a series of pics on different backgrounds and picked the two that showed up best...

Here is the main body and the one petal that was recovered...

Here is the head/top of the main body after the petals had broken off. It looks like it continued to plow forward with generally correct trajectory and that seems also indicated by the hole it bored though the last scapula.

Do these tell you what you wanted to know...other than the weight issue?

          It does. Thanks.

With that muzzle velocity - it puts the MKZ at about 2140 fps at impact. Nice performance at that speed. Interesting that it kept on trajectory despite losing all petals and going through 5 bones.

Great work DNS, and the CBB pills continue to impress. If i go lead free this will be the route I go most likely. Thanks.

Wow ! I think I may need to re-invent a 103-107 GMX pill again. Impressive results here... hmmmmmmmmmm,,,,,,

Maybe a drill run up the base will lighten the bullet a bit , to save the BC's.

                    Except that its patent pending.
I find it very odd that you dont find what we have done beyond the scope of the GMX.
As we beat the GMX in every caliber we have done so far. The TSX and TTSX as well.
In expansion, speed, lethality across the board.
I find the GMX rather, well.....meh

We have a 105gr that loads and shoots like a 95 to 100 grain. Many are reporting 2750 to 2800+ fps.
                        Here's a known load 2.26 OAL, 29.2gr 8208XBR, Lapua brass, 2815fps, .75 inch 200 yard group, 22in barrel.
I did design an 85gr and have put it on the prototype list.

I love to buy some loaded cartridges of both to hunt with!! I'm done hunting w/ lead, and so far the CBB seem very impressive. Thanks for the work on the development to CBB and of course to DNS for the great work on write-ups and vids.
