    CBB 105gr MKZ range day

Lousy shooting by me today, but got a couple of good groups from the CBB 105gr MKZ using 8208. Started low, but will load up to 29.2gr and 5 shot groups next time as the primers looked good with no swipes...

That's a nice safe load. When ricsmall ran the 105 Gmx's I sent him- I think he hit low to mid 2600fps. Deer were hit at about

325yds. He said he never saw meat hanging out the entrance and exit holes before! Even with larger lead based pills in huge calibers.

Bill A helped set me on a path of 95--110 pills a while back as being about right , in LFP's. Short range--77gr works too!

    Impact speed vs wts.

    Thanks for the data.

It's a start Sneaky, I'm learning from all the Chiefs here to start small especially with "boutique" bullets... I'll bump it up, and report back...

I'm liking the CBB bullets, tho... I'm going to focus on these as my hunting bullet for this season...

Keep reporting Scram. I am looking for a lfp for when I start reloading. Looks like after the new year for now, but when I do I already have the heavies but I need a light lfp for deer. Show us what these CBBs will do.

Considering what our bullets will do on hogs its easy to understand what the will do on deer.

Recovered bullet = no pass through. Not a problem if hit well but major problem otherwise. T

The only recovered bullets we were able to get from any kills are ones that either travel the length of the animal or encounter heavy bone such as the plate, shoulder, multiple ribs etc.
As well these are hogs, most are not recovered at all. All reports of recovered bullets in any caliber (there are not many) have been found in the offside just under the skin.
Notice it took a 260lb hog to get recovered bullets, all the rest were pass thru.
The 260lb hog was shot intentionally at an angle to try and stop the bullets so we could see them.
The wound damage shown in the 200lb boar was a pass thru.
Double Naught Spy can attest to the difficulty in recovering our bullets for inspection as pass thru's are the norm.

The only picture I have of a bullet recovered from deer is from a .277 Wolverine at 258 yards, 105 grain .277 MKZ. The Wolverine is a fairly under powered cartridge.

              The bullet still performed admirably.
All other reported deer kills have been a complete pass thru, in any caliber or grain weight. Even the elk have been complete pass thru.

Lead core bullets shed a Lot of lead-reducing wt. That's why the all copper units are the best bullets for pass throughs, I have only lost 1 petal in all my trials with the LFP's.- In H2O tests, and on deer-

Looking forward to more real life termimal performance with the 105's. Had a hard time deciding and went with the 118's to test.
