    20" Group Buy Build

I finally decided on a UBR stock & the build box for the Faxon 20” group buy barrel is full.... ready to start prepping parts when the granddaughter leaves.

20” group buy barrel w/VG6 muzzle device
    “Monster” bolt in Odin BCG
    Seekins gas block
    LaRue MBT trigger
BCA receiver set & 15" handguard in grey cerakote
    Magpul UBR
Strike industries small parts & lower build kit

I’ll probably pull the Vortex crossfire & mount off the 18" BCA complete upper that got me started on this adventure.
Thanks to the forum for all the great information & group buy opportunities.

Really good components!!! Looking forward to a range report.

Will you be handloading for it? I believe there is some untapped potential in those group buy barrels for those willing to play with some handloads.

      Thanks Kilco...
I plan to start reloading eventually, but I'm going to need to upgrade my reloading equipment - all I do now is .38spl & .45acp on a Lee progressive press.
So far, I've just put 200 rounds of Hornady Black through my 18' BCA (& saved the brass).... that was enough to convince me the Grendel was a cartridge I would like to spend more time with.

            Thanks Six5x39,
It's a Bear Creek Armory AR-15 Stripped Receiver Set W/ M-LOK Handrail - Tactical Grey Cerakote.
Their cerakote finished sets are only $95 more than the black anodized (which are value priced anyway) so I ordered it for something different.

That grey looks really nice. Friend of mine did his 6.5 G in grey cerakote and it came out awesome. In for the range report.

Very nice finish.. I wish I could have some similar on my 20" custom build, but having most of the single parts imported to Italy is impacting the total price, so no budget left for that kind of options. I'll have too a 20"Faxon barrel, heavy fluted profile.

Between weather & coming down with a cold/flu bug, I still haven't made it to the range.... Maybe Friday....

                      That looks really slick.

                      I like it.

Finally got out to the rannge...

First targets with my group buy Faxon build & I'm pretty happy with it.
I spent most of my time with my 2017 6.5 Grendel Deals side charger (thread to follow), so I was low on ammo (and cold), but these are good results for me.

Best 50 yard target on the left & best 100 yard on the right only had 24 rounds left so as soon as I had the scope zero'd I moved to 100.

Very happy with the build so far, but it deserves better glass (Black Friday) & I'm not sure about the Strike Industries grip/MBT 2S relationship... probably didn't help that I was shooting a very familiar Ergo/SSA-E before I picked it up.

                            Nice build.
I didn't get good groups until I bought a Lead Sled for around $70-$80 at Midway.
It is the best money I spent.

Ya - I was mostly checking function on my two Grendels that day - shooting with the handguard resting on a stack of sandbags & shouldering the butt stock.
If I get serious about load development & shooting little groups I'll need to get something better.
