Ordered a Boyds for my CZ.

    Folks,

Ordered a Boyds stock for my CZ. Traditional configuration, Nutmeg laminate, standard LOP. Barrel channel is .70 at for end, had a coyote engraved on it as it will be my main coyote gun. I opened up the barrel channel on the stock that came with the rifle, but CZ as other members have stated has not hit it out of the park with their standard stock. Fitment is adequate, not stellar. I found the nutmeg laminate a little heavy. But accurate!

I am sure you will like your Boyds stock. That being said I feel either the factory stock or the Boyds would be enhanced with a good Glass bedding job. Wish you well.

I second that. Boyds stocks are beautiful and for nicely. I always count on a good glass bedding job and possibly pillar bedding to make everything as solid and repeatable as possible.

I LOVE Boyds stocks. I have three, two of which are on bolt guns. The one on the M70 is bedded, the other isn't, and it'll probably stay that way because honestly neither really needed bedding (of course it always helps, but it's not the deal maker/breaker it is with many stocks). The action locks in sooooo nicely with almost zero fitting, it's amazing. Better fit than both the factory stocks. Substantial, solid and accurate.

I'm debating doing the same for mine, however that throws off the whole blue-steel-and-walnut look I was going for and will make it a heavier rifle when I'm trying to keep this as my lightweight and handy deer rifle. I think I'm going to just order a replacement stock from CZ for $200 and if it's awesome I'll just call it an $820 rifle instead of a $620 rifle and just deal with it; if the replacement stock sucks too then I'll just send it back, eat the $20 in shipping and be fussy about the whole situation. Let me know how you like the Boyds and how it fits up, though I can guess at what your answers will be.

Here's some Boyds porn for fun:

Winchester XPR push-feed in 7mm mag. Prairie Hunter stock in nutmeg, pachmayr decelerator pad, 14.5" LOP, ribbon stippling. Yes, it's a $240 stock on a $300 rifle, but it's so nice now I don't even care. This is my long range elk gun.

Winchester M70 Mauser (2014) in 308. Heritage stock in black pepper, pachmayr decelerator pad, 14.5" LOP, multi point checkering. This is my short range elk gun/long range deer gun, and the most accurate rifle I own at consistent 3/4 MOA (and often better).

I just received the Boyd's Heritage stock for my 527 Grendel. It's a nutmeg brown, with the wrap around stippling. I'm a lefty, so I got the LH pattern cheek piece with the RH action inlet. I'll be doing a big transformation on the rifle, JP hex screws, DIP rail and still can't decide which scope is going to be semi permanently home on it.

Also received a grey Pro Varmint with adjustable cheek piece for my LH .223 527 weeeeeeee!
