    22 Grendel, who's running one?

    Hello gents,

I recently built a 6mmAR but I'm looking for something a little flatter and the 22 Grendel seems like a great option. I reached out to a few vendors and the lead times are 6-8 weeks for said barrel/chambering. Ideally, I'd like to pick up a ARP barrel and shoot the Nosler 70 grain RDF's at 3000+ FPS.

What's your guys take on the 22 offering? Anything a guy needs to know before investing in another caliber? I don't care to turn necks or deal with the other procedures. Size and shoot...

Hmmm if I were in the market for a high performance 22 cal AR15 I would be looking hard at the new 224 Valkyrie from Fedral.

Haven't seen much on 22 cal Grendels.

Putting togather a 6mmAR myself at the moment. You can push 70gr Nosler BTs or 75gr VMAX to 3300 fps from a 20" barrel... flatter than any 224 offering from the AR15 platform.

Or if you want flatter than that go with a 55gr Nosler or 58gr VMAX.

How is your 6mm Predator working for you?

I'm set up for the Grendel family already. As for pushing 75 grain bullets (vmax) to 3300 FPS, I didn't come close to that with my 20".... 29.2 of 8208 pushed them to 3030.

Projectiles for the 22 are much cheaper as opposed to the high bc .243/6mm

      I've ran 3 powders (RL15, 8208, aa2520) and 4 projectiles (75 vmax (3030 FPS) 85 smks (2810 FPS) 95 smks (2760 fps) and 105 hybrids (2705 FPS pressure/case swipe). 95 smks are definitely the way to go... my dope puts me at 1 mil/300 yards, 2.8 mils/500 and 10.1mils/1000 yards.

You thought of bumping up your 6mmAR to 6mmAR Turbo

105-107gr 6mm from the Grendel case makes more sense for performance and barrel life.

I've since went with the 95 smks and h4895...28.0 grains of h4895 is pushing them to 2810 with a consistent SD of under 10 FPS and Es of 16. Ballistics beat the 105's out to 500 by .2 mil with a full value 10 mph wind, little bit less recoil and no pressure signs.

300 yards I'm right at 1 mil... .480 g1 bc pushed another 100 FPS gives me better ballistics then the 105's running 2700 FPS...
