Hi. I have built an AR lower before, but not an upper.
I am not sure whether or not I will assemble all of the upper.
Anyways, here is what I have come up with for a build.
This is for hogs/varmints and some medium + distance shooting.
Listed as item, price and source.
Rifle Build (New) 6.5 Grendel
- Faxon 18" .750 Nitrided (mid length) 195 GB (PAID)
- Monster bolt 55 GB (PAID)
- Gas tube med. melonite 17 Brownells
- Adjustable Gas Block (.750)
- Superlative Arms 90 Brownells
- Seekins 58 Brownells
- BCM Gunfighter charging handle med mod 4 50 Bravo Company
- Larue MBT Trigger 125? Larue Black Friday
- BCG
- Faxon Lightweight BCG 249 (OR)
- AP NiB Boron BCG 139 (OR)
- Fail Zero NiB BCG 119
- JP Captured Spring Kit 170
- Luth-AR MBA1 stock 139
- Flash Hider
- Griffin Arm.Taper Mount flash 109
- Precison Arm. AFAB-556 109
Upper/Lower
- Cerakote my Diamond Lower 80 Cerakoters
- AP Enhanced Upper w/ Atlas HG 15 200 Granite Hill Armory
So, there are still decisions to be made and possible changes.
Part of me would want to run suppressed, so that is why I was looking into a lightweight BCG and the JP buffer set.
But I am not exactly sure here.
I want an adjustable gas block to tune it for recoil and later handloads and a suppressor later.
OTOH, part of me is just thinking get it done cheaper for now and I can upgrade later.
I was thinking NiB BCG for wear and cleaning. I saw a couple at Granite Hills, but then one review said
the Fail Zero was making too much noise, so I am leaning towards the AP.
I was thinking max flash hider ability first, and saw some comparison articles at The Truth About Guns,
that drove my choices.
Questions
1) Will the Aero Precision Atlas handguard fit either of the SLA/Seekins adjustable gas blocks on a .750 barrel?
2) I was thinking NiB BCG for wear and cleaning. I saw a couple at Granite Hills, but then one review said

3) I will see what I can get around Black Friday in general here.
4) Probably a triggerless Rock River lower kit.
Any comments would be welcome.
