WTB - 6.5 Brass Help a fella our

New to this game and still waiting on getting build finished. Figured I start piecing together components to roll my own. Would prefer once fired brass, doesn’t have to be processed. Really easy to do with my wet tumbler and Dillon 1050. Anyways help a fella get a handle on this round and at least get the components needed to get going. Let me know what you have and how much for it. Going to do my due diligence and find out market pricing for this today. Thanks.

-OPS didn’t see any rules against WTB threads. Let me know if there is an issue. - “Doc”

FYI - After due dillegence market should be between 250-300 pieces per $100 dependent upon being partially processed. (Just deprimed and Tumbled in SS Media). Will be a good day when it gets to be near 1k for that! Would be a boost for the caliber to become SAAMI and without the royalties it really would pick up and costs would dive.

In the Army “Doc” is earned not given. Though privates and specialists do get a kick out of calling a senior NCO “Doc” and not Sergeant. But a quick correction and putting them at parade rest always reminds them of that folly!

More Dillegence due! It is SAAMI still not cheap but better. Starline is going to start making it so that should help.

Well yes, My TBI sometimes gets in the way of what I am trying to say. Guess was trying to point out that if the royalties where not there and it was made available to all to use without such royalties it would help. I did see Starline making it available and may pick up some when it does. I do like there brass but you do also pay a premium for it. Would be great for my Hunting loads. Yet, still for my plinking, and practice loads I still would like to get a few hundred once fired to get a real feel for the gun and work out my loads.

I am with you that I do feel that it should be under that. Yet, this is what the market bears from the ads that I have seen in the past month. Honestly dont think that it should be around .10-.15 for once fired unprocessed. But if people keep buying it at higher prices, people keep selling it at higher prices. Happens a lot these days. We have had a huge influx of uneducated buyers who panic buy things, or have ot hav, etc. Same issue I am having trying to buy a Ruger Alaskan in 454. Should be able to find around $700 since I can buy new now at $800 and in the past under $800 new. But all want to sell there used gun over $800 and think it is worth it. Then some uneducated buyer comes in and buys at $800-850 and I am here like tf. Two deals fell through cause while working out the deal they had someone when it said Pending Sale PM or email them saying they would offer a lot more than I would, screwing me out of one. I will find one but willing to wait the market will slow and not willing ot pay more than Blue Book on a non collectible, or for some other reason has value to me. It is crazy. I was happy that the Firearm Industry was doing so well this past year. But am also glad that it is slowing down so prices can once again normalize out. Allowing me to do more with my limited funds. Especially being retired now and unable to work due to my injuries. So hopefully I will get someone who is willing to help a fella or help a vet out and part with at least 250 for under a bill so I can at least have that marked off when the rifle is finished at the beginning of the year. If I like how it works out with this caliber. I was eyeing the Larue Build Kit. Yet also wouldn’t mind doing a sub 5 pound 2A build either..

Supply and demand folks. Supply has increased on Grendel brass, but there is still a lot of demand. Unpopular calibers are always cheaper, as are commodity calibers. I don't even bother to pick up 9mm brass. And only certain 556 brass.

Used or new Grendel brass is not out of alignment with other lower volume calibers. The more popular it gets the lower the price will come as more manufacturers and more used brass enters the market.

That said, when Grendel brass in bulk has reach the same level as much older and more popular calibers, we can't complain too much. I can't complain too much when I can go to Cabela's and buy Hornady Grendel brass for the same as 22-250 or similar. And close to the price for 243, Etc.

I don't think we'll ever see Lapua anything cheaper than the current prices. Hornady bulk pricing is approaching the floor for other similar size rifle brass.

I've seen once fired brass listed over and over here for 45-50 cents a piece and it sells just about instantly. I wouldn't call everyone uneducated, that's just the price people are paying.

What royalties are we talking about here?

Grendel has been SAAMI for many years now. The following brass manufacturers make Grendel brass:

                  Lapua
                  Hornady
                  Norma
                  Nosler
                  Federal
                  PPU
                  Starline

You can buy Hornady American Gunner ammo cheaper than you can buy brass for 6.5 Grendel, so I would look at that route first if you can. 6.5 Grendel is a pretty high demand cartridge, so everything gets purchased as fast as they can make it.

Where is the American Gunner? I've never seen it for sale. I've seen people post about it on various forums, but it's not even listed on Hornady website under Grendel.

It's a run made especially for one retailer: Sportsman's Warehouse. They had some available for online sales but sold out quickly.

It's a 200-round box for $140, not much more than empty brass.
Some of their stores may still have some in stock.

So it was only made for a short amount of time? What a bummer.

Actually, I don't know. Hopefully it is a regular production item. It's only been out for a month or so!

And a couple of weeks ago SW had it on sale for $110!

Edit: I see that they have a store in NC, I'd be calling them to see if they have any!

At first I thought it was a hoax as I couldn't find it listed anywhere either.
