    Grendel popularity

I know our little Grendel is getting more popular and that is great. Looking for some other ammo today and saw that the Grendel is in the most popular ammo search list on ammoseek site

Notice that they have that listed from small caliber to large.

It would be interesting to see the list by searches.

There was an article I read within the past year that said 10% of AR15s now are being manufactured in something other than 5.56 NATO.

I agree the Grendel is getting more popular all the time but I am sure the 6.8 has it beat.

Correct. Maybe someday Grendel will reach that level of market domination, but not today....

I'm thinking the fact that the 6.5 creedmoor has finaly broke through and become the first really popular 6.5 in the US is helping spur interest in the grendel.

I saw the exact same thing at my local Sportsman's. On the island they built with ammo cans of American Gunner, .223 and .308 Win were on the sides, with 6.5 Grendel and 6.5 Creedmoor in the middle.

I got there in the morning on Black Rifle Friday and there was no more Grendel on the island, just on the normal aisle shelves, and the island had cavitated in the middle, with some 6.5 Creedmoor left down at the bottom of the middle, with 2 walls of .223 and .308 on each side.

The 270 has a long standing with the shooting public, thanks to Jack O'Conner, while all of the MM calibers face an up hill battle by comparison and I believe that even more true in the 6.5mm group. When you look back on all the negative press, in the past, it's no wonder that it bleeds over into the 6.8/6.5 Grendel argument.

That said for me the little Grendel is about as perfect as it gets, I've bought in hook, line, and sinker.

The 6.8 is fading and the Grendel is still rising, especially for reloaders. If you look on Ammoguide.com they have 677 loads listed for the Grendel and 146 loads for the three variants of the 6.8. When comes to the AR-15 platform the Grendel is the cream of the crop.

Check out the Bear Creek Arsenal retail barrel offerings. If this is any indication of currently popularity, then the Grendel is spanking the 6.8.

                      Caliber (number of different barrels)

                      .223 Wylde (149)
                      .300 Blackout (29)
                      .308 (12)
                      .40 S&W (4)
                      .45 ACP (2)
                      .458 SOCOM (1)
                      5.56 NATO (40)
                      6.5 Grendel Type II (29)
                      6.8 SPC II (1)
                      7.62x39 (7)
                      9MM (17)

If you look at their wholesale offerings, it is an even larger difference with thirty six Grendel barrels, thirty three 300blk barrels, and still only one 6.8 barrel.
