20" AR with XL gas system

    Whats up.

So for the upcoming 2018 F-Class matches here in NC I am thinking about ordering a T-Box barrel and doing it at 20" on a 14" gas system. This would be the same dwell time as a 18" on rifle gas system. Twist rate is 1:7.5

Any of you run a 20 XL gas system?

    Haven't seen that combo yet.

Have seen 20" MLGS, which doesn't make any sense to me, but not ELGS.

Reasoning behind considering 20" ELGS? 20" RLGS Grendels are one of the smoothest-running set-ups I've shot, and I've tested a lot of them with several different barrels, to include:

    AA/Satern fluted
    Templar/Bartlein
    Lilja AR740
    PF/Criterion
    PF/Bartlein
    AA/Shilen
    AA Entry Level

What bullet are you planning on shooting for F Class? A 20" ELGS might work well with 130gr and slow powder, but there might not be enough port pressure and flow for even factory 123gr loads.

Could be tuned to work with Low-Mass carrier and JP SCS recoil system maybe.

Great points and I do not know.

I think the unknown is what interested me in this idea.
