Posting large pictures, how are you guys doing it?

Speaking for myself, I can manage attachments, resize the desired photo, and attach them as the paperclipped mini pics as listed in BFT's sticky. However, I see posts all the time with these grand, large format pics covering the entire message window without having to click on the actual picture to enlarge them, and they still show up when I am out of town on my Ibone. Any technical assitance?

I have a Flikr account, uploaded a pic, and used the share link in a trial post. When I previewed the post, the link is clickable, but I'd like to be able to have it display directly without the need to click and leave the page, or open another. Is there something I need to do on the sharing end?

Anyway, I know this has been asked, but it's never answered in a way that the less tech savvy of among us (me) can follow. Any simple way to do this?

Thanks in advance, I've read most of the first page of search results, almost all of which describe how to "manage attachments" or say "I have a flikr or some other account and that's how I do it"... etc...

This particular thread is an example what I'd like to figure out how to do.

I use Flickr and you have set your preferences to public viewing before you can link directly to a forum. You select the size format in the process. I usually use medium size pictures.

Here are some screen shots from Flickr.

When you’ve uploaded your pictures you have to set your preferences for public viewing. On my Ipad I need to use Flickr web page and not the app to get to the link.

The preference on public or private is on the bottom right of this screen shot. I have click the public for each photo to get the proper hot link

Once you have the prference for public post click on the arrow to get to the next screen to select file size and link.

Once you have the file size in the BBC code cut and paste the link in your narrative. The proper link if very lengthy, a lot of characters. I have difficulty getting the correct BBC code link if I don’t have the public access set properly. The last picture shows a hot linked picture.

That is a link to your picture on Flickr, not a hot link, but at least you can click and see the full size image by clicking on the link.

You figured it out! You can delete your name from the end of the BBC code if you don’t want people to see your name.

Good call, and thanks for the education. I hadn't noticed the different options for the share function yet. I really thought I had it when I hit the embed tab. I just opened my Flickr account today. Turns out it's part of the Yahoo family. Wonder if my Google pics account has the same ability. Probably does, and I never knew. I can't believe there's not some millennial out there making videos for the old folks 10 years behind the curve on this. Ha.

I use Google photos but my research indicated you can not hot link like you can with Flickr. I used photobucket for years then they wanted an exorbitant fee for web hosting so I deleted my PB account. Flickr isn’t the most user friendly but I’ve kind of figured it out.

I still haven’t figured out how to hot link from the Flickr app. May not be possible using my IPad. Since retiring I never use a desk top computer. I can pretty much do everything I want with my IPad.

Actually, I'm finding the same issues with my just downloaded Flickr app on my Iphone 10. I'm not really impressed, it seems more like a post your life in photographs app than a tool. I have a few suggestions for changes I'm trying to figure out how to send up. Uploading from the app is rather non-intuitive...

Seems like the world is moving more to Facebook and instagram which host photos. Flickr being free is part of why I chose it but your opinion on the app seems appropriate. I’m not sure but Flickr might be popular with photo buffs who like sharing their high tech/quality pictures with other photo enthusiast.
