Good choice. d (Closest I could come to a "thumbs up"!)

There are some stickies you can browse through, but I'd just suggest stay with SAAMI chambered barrels and original Grendel designs.

Stay with bolts with boltface depth of 0.136 until we can figure out how to strengthen extractor dimensions and then we can eventually use 0.125 boltface depth bolts. Maintaining extractor strength was the reason for the departure from the 5.56 standard bolt depth of 0.125 and it is the key that might allow a return to that standard for 6.5 Grendel. For my part, I'm working on this project. . . .

The history of how that happened has been covered extensively elsewhere. . . .

Definitely stay with SAAMI chambers. Boltface depth is not a part of SAAMI standard and can change per individual barrel's headspacing, but SAAMI chamber is SAAMI chamber.

This is a great deal. Can you tell me if they are built to the normal standard dimensions afa lug width and wall thickness or are they more of an enhanced bolt like the Young I have. Thanks.

Hmmm . . . how to say this? I'd say for a Grendel bolt they are "normal." They incorporate Bill Alexander's improvements when he first set out 14 years ago to engineer a bolt dedicated to .50 Beowulf/6.5 Grendel. Yes, he tweaked bolt and extractor dimensions here and there, and Young has done more of the same. It was Bill who, with these bolts for example, started the whole 9310 steel craze.

So, I'd say that Young has built on Alexander's work and has enhanced it even further. Enhancements like that are the future of 6.5 Grendel bolts and I am pushing my manufacturer and others to constantly improve. There is still room for growth until we squeeze out every last drop from the 6.5 Grendel in the AR platform.

In the meantime, these are damn good bolts for the money, fully worth it even at retail, not to mention members' pricing here.

I'm new here but put me down for a couple,I assume they will work fine in a Larue barrel.

Pete, you do need to verify that your LaRue barrel is headspaced for a boltface depth of 0.136".
