The internal mag measurements I did on my howa came to a max mag length of about 2.320 - 2.322" iirc.
IMO that gives me a practical limit of 2.320, but haven't loaded anything to the very max.
I load some accubonds to 2.300 which still gives me a little room.

Yours of course may be different.

My favourite load is COL 2.305" with no feeding issues.

Doc, Not fully knowing if your inquiry is pre-purchase research, but if it is, I would be in a hold pattern awaiting more info about the Ruger 6.5 Grendel rifle. There's a decent chance the Ruger max COAL could be longer considering they didn't use a mini action. Time will tell....

FWIW, 11Bs call me Doc too.

            Thanks, Dinny

According to what I've seen the Ruger will use a "AR style" mag, not sure what Ruger considers AR style but by the picture it looks like a polymer AR15 mag and same in appearance to the new 300 blackout rifle.

Could be an AR10 mag if the hinting at longer action reasoning.
