    First Grendel hunt.

The circle in this picture is a hog, that I shot about 10 yards into the field. Range finder said 278 yards. After this A large group of hogs came down the fence line on the other side of the trees to the right. I shot one through the Gap, I'm guessing about 320 yards.

Thanks Clarence, those are the furthest shots that I've ever succeeded at. Most of the shots I've taken in the past were a hundred fifty yards or less. It was my girlfriend's daughter's land. She was spotting for me. I would have shot over the first one, until she told me the actual distance. I reduced my hold over when I shot

GOOD SHOOTING SEAN, where did you hit them, and hoe far did they travel after being tagged?

Very nice shooting. I'm heading to GA next week hopefully to christen my 65G.

Outstanding. Looks like y'all had fun. Nice to have a competent spotter along.

Sean, awesome shots! A couple of questions: - what ammo were you using, - what part of Texas was this in?

The first one folded as it tried to walk. Entrance on both was about 6 inches down from top of front shoulder, exits coming out lower on the other side. Up close I normally try to neck shootbthem, between theirnear and shoulder. The second one I could not see it go down. It was a large group on the other side of the fenceline and after the first shot they were all milling around. It wasn't far from the fence, so maybe 10 yrds?

                          Thanks!

                          I was near Munday.

I was using factory hormady SSTs. In my experience, they are not as accurate as the ELD match ammo, but I would only use match ammo while hunting if I could not find any hunting ammo. SSTs shoot a little under MOA at 100 yrds with my 18" monster barrel, about a box and a half into break in. I want to try ELDX when I get my loading stuff going again, if they offer them in a Grendel weight.

This is there first one...exit side. The entrance was a lot higher, so must have hit bone or something to deflect it down.

Second Hog...less deflection. Exit side again.

Thanks BFT. That's the 18" monster barrel. Barely got it sited in before hunting with it. I look forward to developing some loads for it once I find all my reloading stuff.

I think sometimes that when the bullets don't enter perpendicularly, that the trajectory gets deflected from the change from medium (air to tissue) that the bullet is passing through and that is influenced by the angle of entry. Also, even hitting perpendicularly, bullets can veer off trajectory as is often seen in gel tests.

Or, it may have hit bone and deflected.
