Rooter Blaster from the Piney Woods of Texas

Hey guys, just joined today, although like others, I've been lurking for awhile. I'm new to 6.5 Grendel so I've been learning a lot here. That said, I don't have the gun yet but everything has shipped so it won't be long. I ordered a 20" Aero Precision enhanced upper which I'm going to mate to a Rock River Arms Predator Pursuit 223 Wylde lower. I have another Aero Precision upper on hand but I have a RRA 458 SOCOM upper attached to that. I know, go figure. My plan is to use this for pigs and coyotes almost exclusively. I hunt these critters primarily at night with a thermal optic so I won't be able to contribute much regarding precision shooting. I really enjoy the AR platform and chose the Grendel over a 308. I started out with the SOCOM then went to a 308 bolt gun but since I can't get off more than two shots on a sounder I'm coming back to the AR and the Grendel. I do reload but i'll be using factory ammo until I get familiar with the 65G. There's a bunch of good reloading info here so who knows where I'll end up.
Anyway, I hope I can contribute to the forum and thanks for letting me in.

      Welcome to the Horde.
If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

        Welcome!

For the current factory ammo, I would suggest using Hornady SST for hogs. A buddy of mine has started testing Federal Fusion and the results are promising as well.

Thanks DNS for the ammo suggestion. I got 60 RDS of 123 SST coming and 20 RDS of 120 fusion and 20 RDS of eld m for grins. On the fusion I wonder how close it behaves compared to partition? You can't beat the BC on those SST's though.

Hey Bwild97, the guys that own the property next to mine are from Cleveland. They have a deer camp there and they lease some of the acreage off the road I live on. Their last name is Davis. Small world ain't it.

Thanks guys. Yeah Texas, I'm planning on the sst's for pigs. The ammo I ordered is here but still waiting on the upper, the bolt and the mags. Sometimes free shipping ain't worth it! Won't be here till Wednesday.
