    Howa Grendel Range Trip

Got the chance to go camping this weekend. Took the Wife's Howa and broke it in with 20 rounds of wolf and about 50 rounds of Hornady American Gunner. The Hornady shot MOA out of this rifle.

The factory stock was slimmed and cut down at the forend. The LOP was reduced by an inch and a pachmayr recoil pad was fitted. The mag was also cut down to fit flush with the magwell. Finally the stock was painted OD green with black webbing and a few coats of matte clear was applied. The rifle is topped off with a Leupold vx-2 2-7x33 CDS scope in Talley LW rings.

The rifle without the bipod weighs in at 6lbs 4oz. It should make for a fine rifle for my wife this coming deer season. I am working up some loads using the 100gr TTSX.

Nice looking stick. Keep us posted on the ttsx results. That a great bullet for the Grendel out to 300 I would guess.

September. So I have plenty of time to work up a load. I'm going to wait for it to warm up some before starting.

What height rings are you running and are those the standard or extended option? I have a vx3i 2.5-8x36 and would like it to be similar to your scope's height.

On a Howa Bull Barrel, with a 20 MOA scope rail, you can run a set of .825 high scope rings with a Vortex PST 30mm tube, 50mm objective with their 4" sunshade and still have about 1/4" clearance. I started out with medium rings and could not get the cheek piece on my stock high enough.

              Catchy sig line here.

Went out shooting this past weekend. Took my other Howa out and chrono some loads using a magneto speed. The ambient temperature was a brisk 40 degrees.
