ONE: I saw this on a T-shirt- THERE are people who didn't listen to THEIR teacher's grammer lessons, and THEY'RE driving me nuts! TWO: This is addressed TO those of us that do it TOO often.

    Grammar

    Start with spelling first.

This is why we educate at home.

The "then" and "than" misuse is killing me lately in public discourse.

And my vain attempt to shift the vane in a similar vein:

And BTW, Grammar is defined as a system of rules governing the structure of language and Grammer is an actor who played Frasier.

Don't get me started on "less" vs. "fewer."

Fewer is a — theoretically — defined quantity. "Fewer people out at this hour." Not "less people."

Less is a — theoretically — undefined quantity. "Less sand than the other beach." Not, obviously, "fewer sand."

"Grammer" was intentionally misspelled to add humor, so the effect on those affected would not be insulting.
Thanks all for the lead-in for this post.

When I was looking for a wife, a lot of the prospects were school teachers.

None of them could spell or use the common words discussed herein, but my soon-to-be wife could.

I still like some of the phrases I picked up in the South.

              "I used ta could."

"I'm a fixin' to git down there."

Yep. The grammar and spelling mistakes are really noticeable to me. They disrupt the flow of ideas.

There is a commercial on TV here that says "less people" and drives me nuts.
I wonder if it's actually an IQ test??? I once read that the emails from the "nigerian bankers" purposely have grammatical errors to weed out those who are probably too intelligent to fall for the scam... It's only a theory, I doubt that they're that smart.

I dated a lovely Nigerian woman for a while. No, Nigerian scammers are not grammatically clever.

I used to do that same thing in elementary when we were practicing spelling and someone asked for the word in a sentence. I would give all the good ol' English "Sounds the same, just spelled different"variations that I knew.
