    Why would a ban on bump stocks be a threat to the 2A? Please -- the 'slippery slope' argument is not an answer.

    It doesn't seem much of a threat to the 2A, but it is an infringement on the RKBA much like the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban in that a firearm accessory is banned.

    There are two major differences:

    - the '94 AWB was temporary, while the bump stock ban is permanent;
    - the '94 AWB was created by the peoples' representatives after open debate, while the bump stock ban was formulated by a political appointee, at the direction of one man.

      From everything that's been said by the President and the acting Attorney General, it doesn't sound to me like they expect, let alone want, it to be struck down.

      Also, note the comment at 1:07-1:17

        Unfortunately, that's a fantasy. SCOTUS ain't about to overturn the NFA or any other such law.
        The Heller decision affirmed government authority to "infringe" on the right to keep and bear.

          The ban now will become a property rights issue with all the lawsuits since the reversal of the ATF "allowance" because the reversal does not provide any means for compensation.

          If you read the ATF's directions on how to handle destruction or turn-in of your bumpstock, you'll see that there is no discussion of compensation at all, which is in violation of due process under the Constitution, specifically annotated in the [Fifth Amendment]...

              There is a lot of impressive intellectual gymnastics going on in that document, isn’t there? I don’t disagree with your earlier comment concerning SCOTUS. I don’t fully understand why today’s Court doesn’t believe that they are a co-EQUAL branch of government but they seem content to let the other 2 do whatever they want. Trump should nominate me for RBGs spot when the time comes.

                From what Stan posted it seems like we have no rights at all if the government can prohibit everything in the interest of public safety.

                      Stan.

                      Christmas Eve and you got to put up a picture like that?

                      1. It had nothing to do with bump stocks.

                      2. It was graphic and offensive.

                      3. It is not appropriate for a forum whose content is for families.
