    Grendel Sniper... What barrel?

Ok... I am considering building a GRENDEL SNIPER!!!

I am going to use a Stiller Precision lower, a VLTOR MUR upper ( or maybe even one of those bolt action uppers - not sure yet )... but i dont know if anyone makes a rifle CUT 24" barrel.... (the one Alexander sells is button rifled... right?).

    Thanks

I have a twenty inch Shilen match barrel on my Grendel very accurate but heavy. .75 OD. For a sniping set-up I would go for twenty four incher but the quality is defiantly there.

Precision rifle. Nit-picky, yes, I know.

I have a Satern 20" and have been very happy with it.

Set your requirements for first-round hit probability distance desired plus weight & profile, and go from there.

A .308 precision rifle usually has around a 600m 1st-round hit probability, as long as conditions are mild. Almost all of them are too heavy, in my opinion, which is where the Grendel shines, even with longer pipes.

Your 1st-round hit probability will not be that much better than the .308 unless you soup some things up. I'm looking at using an AR Performance BR bolt and barrel extension combo for that, which you might consider as well, but hot loads for that will not be able to be used in your other Grendels.
