    Question Grendel at extended ranges?

I'm interested in seeing what kind of performance I can expect at extended ranges.. What's the furthest you have taken the Grendel, and with what load? I'll be heading east of the mountains this summer, and I want to see how far I can shoot with it... planning on loading 123 scenars hot. We shall see...

Furthest for me so far is 600 yards. Not much of a challenge using factory AA 123gr Scenars.

    LRSR:

Tried it at 1K and it didn't perform. Have shot it on paper at 600 and it did fine as long as the winds were not real tricky. Shot it on a field fire range a couple of weeks ago to 700 and it did fine on sils. Just had to keep a real good eye on the winds. However my barrel is 26 inches and if yours is less you will have to pay even more attention to the winds.

Took it to 1000 yds on a steel silohuette for the first time this weekend. Load was a 29.7 gr of AA2520 under a 123 amax. The load chrony's at 2650fps out of a 24" .264 BHW barrel.

It was the first time for me to hit 1k with my own rifle and once I got on target it was 5 for 7 with the 2 misses having good height but missing left and right of the neck. I was aiming high to try to knock the larue over but it would just teeter.

The verticle spread was about 5-6" and the horizontal spread more like a foot. 13 mph and I don't know a thing about judging it, so I just kept holding a little more until I got on target.

600m. Wind is always the 800 pound Gorilla in the room.

Prob a good 1.75 foot of windage at that distance with a sustained 13mph

Taken it to 1000 a lot. It does well unless the wind kicks up. I shoot 123 Scenars generally. I've even shot the Hornady factory ammo to 800. I wouldn't hunt long range with it but it sure is a blast to shoot. I've got a 6.5-284 for when I get serious about long range though. You can click my signature for some videos of the Grendel and others at extended ranges.

I wonder what the azimuth of his shots were as well.

I'm just working up some loads, but I shot mine this week at 600 yd and had a 4 1/2 in group. Heading to SD this week to shoot PD's, and am taking the Grendel along to try some longer ranges,if the wind isn't too bad.

I have shot my 20" Grendel to 1000 yards a number of times.
Actually utilized it for one of the Snipers Hide Cup matches down at Rifles Only in Texas a couple of years ago.
The guy laying next to me was using a 308 bolt rifle and I really felt bad about kicking brass his direction but the Grendel did just as good as the 308.
I put in a 15 mph correction as I thought the breeze was a bit over 20 mph but not at a full value.
First shot missed the Larue plate to the right a bit less than half a mil so I held left 1/2 mil and sent three rounds for hits.
The fifth round missed just a hair left because I should have increased my hold-off as the breeze was increasing.

Personally, I consider both the Grendel and a 308 to be 800 yard rounds. People utilize both past 800 but my personal confidence level is much higher if I am at 800 or colser.
