I always like to keep extras of those on-hand. Another thing is to get the tool that helps you install the pivot pin detent and spring. It will save you a lot of cursing and hair-pulling. It's just a rod section with a beveled hole so you can captivate the detent and spring, then slide the slave rod tool away as you push it with the actual pivot pin, taking its place.

    Brownell's carries it.

Stag Arms, DPMS, or any AR manufacture will carry them. LRRPF52 is correct about the pivot pin detent tool from Brownells. Its worth every penny.

I used a small allen wrench to fit the hole and hold the spring down

You can also use a clevis pin(same size as take down pin) that has multipul cotterpin holes in it. Put the spring in and detent then rotate the clevis pin and push in the take down pin.

When I attended the Colt Armorer Course (taught by Ken Elmore of Specialized Armament) I picked up the trick of doing the assembly work partially inside a large plastic or paper bag. That way when (not if) one of those spring-loaded missiles got away from you, it usually just bounced around the inside of the bag instead of vanishing into the Bermuda Triangle.

Didn't know what a clevis pin was till today. Had to go to a harware store for a couple things and stumbled onto them. $.59 each and here I paid midway 4$ for basiclly the same thing.lol
