GAHHHH! LOL, I really like the idea of the polymer because i will be walking around with it quite a bit, but as you stated about the duracoat i don't know if it will work. Also to tailgate that dpms sounded great and you said "plus" and i got excited for a second then "it does not have a dust cover" and i was thinking darn I kind of wanted one. Worst part is, as i stated before im one of the youngest people on here. I have to have my father buy the lower for me, if only i could age 2 years faster!

Duracoat and Cerakote both can easily be applied to polymer. If baking, the bake temp is done much lower. I have done a bunch of it with Cerakote-no issues.

Very nice anniversary gift! Oh and thank you for telling me about the duracoat and ceracoat, now the question is will the polymer hold up to wear and tear such as the aluminum.

The non-metal lowers and parts that I have seen hold up to use over the long-haul would be the Corbon-15 guns, which were bought by Bushampster about a decade ago. The uppers can't take high-volume full-auto though, as tested by a certain group in the military.

I think there was a forum member who posted pics of an extreme lightweight hunting Grendel built on a Corbon-15 lower, with a carbon fiber handguard, and a lightweight barrel that metered out on the scale under 5lbs IIRC.

Thanks for everyones input, after reading a post by hydrotech about polymer lowers i think im going to go that route and get an acs stock and just add some weight to the battery compartments.
