What a great forum.. I wanted something more than just an AR in 5.56, and after much research I have determined the 6.5 Grendel is the way to go.. It just made sense to then join a group of 6.5 Grendel loyalists..
I grew up with anti-gun parents; not the ban all guns kind, just the kind who doesn’t want to see their kids hurt.. Of course my cousin almost shooting out his sister’s eye with a BB gun didn’t help matters any..
My friends all had BB gun rifles when I was growing up.. But since I had to be able to sneak my BB Gun out of, and then back into the house, I was many kept to BB Pistols.. Thank goodness for the really nice Crossman and Daisy CO2 pistols which finally came out in the late 60’s early 70’s.. Consequently, I am probably a better pistol shot than I am with a rifle..
I’ve been a long time shooter and re-loader, and have competed in Bench Rest, Trap, Cowboy Action, and most recently I want to start shooting 3 gun.. I’ve been to a couple of matches at the local club and it looks like it will be a lot of fun and practical experience..
In my peak, I was reloading for 46 cartridges and 12 and 20 gauge shot shell.. I have since been cutting back, and would like to settle on about a dozen cartridges..
I am a “top shelf” kind of person, and value quality over a cheap price.. This philosophy has done me well over the 30+ years I have been shooting and reloading..
I’ve pretty well decided on an Alexander Arms top for my Grendel, and seeing Bill posts to the forum was one of the reasons for this decision.. Right now I am saving my money for the top and will probably do a lot of listening and learning..
