Adjustable Butt Plate on Magpul PRS Stock

I'm building an AR match rifle, but not ready to go the "space gun" stock route. The Magpul PRS does everything I want, except being able to drop the butt plate down for offhand shooting. I also see that the Magpul stock is a popularchoice for the varmit and tactical guys, so this may be of interest to others. I was going to make an adaptor to fit a vertical adjustable butt plate to the Magpul stock - until I stumbled across a Zel M/P Adaptor. The adaptor is intended to mount a large size Pachmayr recoil pad to the Magpul stock. It's available with, and without the recoil pad. I bought one without and used it as the base to mount my adjustable butt plate.

The adapter is aluminium, as is the butt plate parts. It is a bit heavy, but in my case the rifle has a 28" heavy barrel so it balances out OK. You could easily drill some ligthening holes in the adapter mounting face to take some weight off in areas that don't show. Or if you had access to a milling machine you could cut a vertical dovetail into the adapter and mount the adjustable pad directly yo the adapter without having to use the base plate. It's certainly not for everyone, but it does provide some options if you are looking for a match stock.
