New Member, friend got me interested in this caliber...

A friend of mine got me interested in this caliber. It looks fun and I can swap out my upper to get a new rifle. sounds fun...

I have yet to purchase a new upper or whole new build, but I am looking around for both advice and ideas to make a fairly decent deer/hunting gun but also have performance for shooting. I know these things aren't cheap but I hope to not break the bank making a nice new rifle.

I forgot to mention I am out of Washington State as well.

    Thanks.

Welcome. You don't have to break the bank at all. You might consider an 18" barrel and bolt as a starting point, along with a stripped or complete upper.

I was thinking about getting a complete upper, and yes I am watching the WTS/ WTT forum as well as gunbroker. I have been thinking of the 19.5/20 inch barrels as they seemed to have great performance.

Hello Dr. Moo.. The AR is almost like a Semi-Auto Thompson Contender, just without as many barrel options (grin)..

I was introduced to the Grendel by an AR Armorer friend of mine when I first started wanting another AR, but not in .223/5.56 Nato..

Good luck on getting yours built, and keep us abreast as it goes..
