The 6AR continues to amaze me.

Quickly becoming my most favorite gun in the safe(s).

Thinking about building more of them!

I'm also thinking the 6.5 Grendel case design accommodates the .243 bullet really really well.

The Grendel and 6mm AR have more case capacity because the shoulder is blown forward.

ah i see the shoulder is moved forward. Is this image an optical illusion? It appears the 6mmAR has a longer coal than the 6ppc as well. bullets seated out farther?

In my case, I just size the standard Grendel case neck down to 6mm using a 6AR die from Redding. It does the operation in one step, so its very easy.

The 6AR Turbo and FATRAT both have the Grendel shoulder blown forward even further than the 6AR, so they hold more powder and have more MV potential.

In all cases, we are constrained by the AR-15 magazine length, so overall length is 2.250"-2.260" maximum for the 6AR, 6ARTurbo and FATRAT.

What velocity do you think the fat rat can push a 87 grain v-max and 95 grain ballistic tip.

              From the 6AR web site:

"The 6mmAR, when loaded with a 6mm Hornady 75 gr. V-Max bullet, provides a devastating varmint round that can drive the 75 gr. V-Max bullet at 3100+ fps from a 24" barreled upper."

I would think the Turbo or RAT could run close to 3000 with 87 grainers.

I've not run any 6mm projectiles under 105 grains yet, so this would be new territory for me.

Has any of the 6mm AR barrels become available.
Can't ever find one for sale or someone that's makes them.

454 didn't read the whole thread.

See post 11 for your source.

Now you just need to head up a small group buy.

Would like to get a barrel from PF but I'm not good at getting a group buy going.
If only 4 more would show interest maybe it will happen.
I've seen some exceptional groups fired from the 6mmAR and other 6mm wildcats off the Grendel case.
I'd like to wring out the berger 95 grain VLD and ballistic tip.
The 80 grain TTSX would be very good on deer with the increased velocity.

The vendors link on 6mmar.com (http://www.6mmar.com/Sources_to_Obtain_6mm_AR_It.html) has a reference to Saberco, Inc. for barrel work. Another option is to get a custom reamer cut to your specs and take a barrel blank to a local gunsmith for finishing.

I own two 6AR reamers, and can provide a barrel made to your exact specifications.

                        PM me for additional information.

Not sure if interest is still here for a 6mmAR group purchase through PercisionFirearms but, if so I am also interested. Anyone thinking Bartlein left hand gain twist?
