I'd agree with ya on the 12.5 SBR for self-defense but for me, I don't want to deal with the govt/bureaucratic BS for a hunting rig.

Apparently there is a loophole and you can get a "pistol" strap stock designed to be bound to the arm, and have a barrel as short as you like. You also apparently do not have to utilize the weapon as a pistol, but rather as a rifle as the ATF allegedly can't tell you that you can't put your Glock to your shoulder and shoot that like a rifle either.

      No headaches required, so far.

18" BHW 1/9 .264 LBC, want to eventually build a lightweight 14.5" pinned upper.

Товарищ, почему вы думаете, что комиссары не могу сказать вам, что вы можете или не можете сделать?

The AR pistol market got a huge shot in the arm when SIG released their arm brace. And the ATF had originally opined that shouldering the arm brace was beyond their control--an opinion that sold thousands of arm braces. Short barreled rifles became instantly irrelevant. But now, the ATF is singing a different tune, and offering a very different opinion. Read on...

This...I have a 14.5 that I'm going to cut down to 12.5 and use a Sig Tac brace. If I like it, I'll submit the paperwork for an SBR. 14.5" is too close in length to a 16" when a flash hider is used to be worth the effort IMO.

Built my 20" upper this fall as a personal rehabilitation program after neck surgery. I intend to use it next spring after the doctor clears me to shoot highpower matches again.

Old thread but interesting none the less. 16 for me, easy to ruck through the woods with no tax stamp.

Ordered one of the 16" group buy Faxon barrels for my first Grendel. Will be a dedicated suppressor host for hunting.
