Proposed DC law would require residents to show the need for concealed handgun permit

"The District is seeking to let the police chief decide whether people have a reason to carry a concealed firearm, and officials said living in a high-crime neighborhood would not be sufficient reason to obtain a permit. People who've received death threats of have been the victims of domestic violence are among those who could be granted permits." --- (http://www.therepublic.com/view/stor...US-DC-Gun-Laws).

Backdoor gun control: D.C. sets impossible hurdles for carry permits

"Gun owners say the laws are too restrictive and that they intend to challenge the regulations on the basis that they do not comply with Judge Scullin's order to adopt a 'licencing mechanism consistent with constitutional standards enabling people to exercise their Second Amendment right to bear arms.'" http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...d-carry-app/#!

      Hey, DC! Welcome to 1975.

As I recall, most of the places I traveled were show cause back then-- even Wyoming. It's only been in the last 20 years that things have begun to open up. .gov is always 20 or 30 years behind, but at least they're on the path now, right? Give them another 20 years and they might almost be acting civilized.

Yes, that was shot down right away by previous case law. "Show Need" too easily turns into "No Need" in anti-gunner's minds.
