BHW 6.5 build... My first :)

My first 6.5 upper build that I switch back forth with my 5.56 upper...

18" 1/9 standard profile mid length BHW shot peened barrel Type 1 LBC
    Dragons Head .308 linear comp
SAA upper and lower receivers (Aero Precision)
Yankee Hill Free Floated Customizable Series Forearm - Rifle Length 12.520" YHM-9432A
    SAA NiB M-16 BCG
    Hamlund Tactical 7.62X39 NiB bolt
Damage Industries enhanced buffer spring and H2 buffer
    JP yellow springs
Magpul Moe+ grip and ACS-L foliage green stock
Magpul ambi endplate swivel and MS3 2-1 sling
    Elander 25 round mags
    Blackhawk rotating/swivel bipod (not shown)
    Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10X44
    45 deg offset irons

Got the scope and rifle sighted in to .75" 3 shot groups @ 100yrds then proceeded to ring 200 yard steel easily and killed a clay pigeon at 300 first shot with a 1.5 mil hold over. The 12" steel at 300 was childs play so need to make it out to the longer range close by, still only out to 550 but that will have to do for now.

          SAA sale barrel?

if so i got one also, my rifle should be done Saturday minus scope though been thinking of getting the same one as yours.

hows the 2.5-10 ? they say the 32mm blows the 44mm out of the water but its like 300$ more.

milspec trigger? hows it with the yellow springs?

          last question
          What ammo?

Yes on the SAA sale. Love the 2.5-10X44 but it was at the top of my budget so didn't even look at the 32. The JP yellows have been 100% reliable shooting both my uppers and so far 123 Amax's.

Great looking rifle. You should strongly consider replacing your rings with a one-piece mount, since we have seen time and again instances where the zero will walk all over on you with bridged rings from the upper to the handguard. When you watch the AR15 fire on high speed photography, it will become readily apparent why a once piece base is a good idea.

Roger that on it being child's play at 300 and 400yds, even 500yds. I start out new shooters, including youth, at 12" plates at 300yds, then 400yds on out on sils. Too easy to hit stuff with it.

I was `just going to recommend that very scope mount for you. Get the 30mm ring model for your Vortex.

I have that Aero scope mount and a Vortex scope, hope to get it mounted this week and shoot this weekend. I can tell you it is a nice looking mount one piece and very light. Hope to post some comments and pictures on my build thread.

                          Thanks!

And on a complete tangent, what do you think about a 14.5 pinned carbine 6.5 to go along with my 18"?
