    Figured Out My Pet Load

Went out to the family property to shoot with a couple of buddies today. We were all mainly shooting .223, but I had worked up what looked to be a promising load for the Grendel a few weeks ago and wanted to try it a little further out. I took a few shots at the 16" gong to get dialed in the middle, then switched to the 10" to shoot for group. 3 shots at 525 yards in just a hair over 1 7/8". By far the best group I've got with the Grendel to date at that kind of distance.

    Hornady brass
    123gr Hornady Amax
    30gr of BLC2
    Winchester 7 1/2 primers

And of course, we proceeded to blow the hell out of all of the other gongs with the .223

And this is what happens when you hit the 4" plate with the Grendel:

Wraps it all the way up and around! The .223 will make it dance pretty good, but of course nothing like what the Grendel will do!

Which blows me away, considering the best it shot at 100yds was barely under 3/4

1.75" at 525yds? That's awesome. Nice report, and another testament to JP rifles, especially for such a lightweight barrel.

Nice! Great group at distance for sure! Nothing like the sound of steel ringing in the distance with the Grendel.

Thanks everyone! I had been getting frustrated with it lately, I just hadn't been able to get a load to group like I knew it should. And then this seemed to come out of nowhere! After shooting that group, I decided to hike around our property and see if I could find a place to shoot a little further. I took an ax with me and chopped down a couple of limbs and found a place I can stretch it out to 700 if I move the bench. I guess that means it's time to buy a few more targets, build another couple of stands, and probably make a new bench while I'm at it! Reports will follow in the next few weeks
