    Deer

So the Grendel spoke today. After watching 7 does and fawns move by my stand around 730 this morning,I was fortunate enough to spot this guy trailing behind about an hour and a half later.
One shot dropped him at about 120 yards using hundred and 20 grain Nosler ballistic tips.
To my surprise, he had the markings of a pie ball.

Nice harvest. It does look somewhat piebald, doesn't it. What State are you in? Some States don't allow hunting of piebald, while others have lifted the restrictions.

How did the 120gr NBT do?

Thanks all for the comments. I live in VT. and to the best of my knowledge it is legal to harvest pie ball (bald?)
Because I had a steady rest, I took a quartering frontal shot. The bullet went in between the neck and shoulder and exited opposite side rear ribs. The NBT preformed great! I was slightly uphill shooting down, looked like it broke the spine and ruined the liver and one lung was mush.
I usually aim right behind the front shoulder going for double lung and possibly heart.

Congrats! We have a few pie bald in north Alabama. The pie bald does I have seen were huge( for Bama) one weighing 171lbs. field dressed.

I've heard stories of piebald and albino deer around. My pap got an albino buck. Never have met one alive in person. Tan that hide for a throw. too unusual to toss away with the guts.

Grendellizing predators as of the fall of 2012.

Small bullets that go really fast, make me giggle...........

Thanks all for the comments. Anyone have an idea what having the hide tanned would cost?

I've heard a price of $300 to get a hide tanned for a rug. That's in Roanoke, VA. I think the name of the place is Deer Tales or something like that.
