    Factory loads/Shilen barrel

I just started building a new Grendel. My old one used a LW barrel. I put my upper together yesterday and wanted to see if I needed to adjust my dies.
I have five rounds of factory AA 120g NBTs. Tried one and the bullet stuck in the lands.
I have three different reloads, NBT 120g, 123SMK, and 123 Lapua.
The SMK is the only one to cycle without sticking. Loaded at 2.260".

I made a dummy round and installed my Hornady ogive (?) tool on my calipers.
Using a 123g Lapua, I found that at 2.665 I can still feel the bullet sticking in the lands. At 2.658" the bullet is free.

    The measurement of 2.658" = 2.215" oal.
My thoughts are I can load this round to around 2.200" +\- and be fine. However am I correct that I will not be able to shoot factory rounds? As in is my chamber too tight?

Here are some measurements I took from my 20" Shilen, my son in laws Lothar Walther 22", a friend's Brownell's 18" and my J&T 16". On a new barrel your probably right as my Shilen had about 200 rounds and my J&T has about 400 rounds. The Brownell's barrel was new and the Lothar Walther probably has less than 150 rounds.

These measurements may or may not help, I tried to use the same bullets and procedure when measuring each wth a Hornady Lock N Load COAL gauge.

Thanks Vas. Not quite what I'm looking for. I made a few mistakes in the first post. By my measurements, from the bolt face to the beginning of the lands, I get 2.215". This is not an issue with my reloads, I just need to adjust the seater die. My question is will factory ammo Run through this barrel?

If factory ammo is jamming into the lands, you are going to spike the pressures, and pull bullets potentially. You might consider getting it reamed slightly to throat it correctly, or see how it does first with 123gr target pills and take it from there.

Thanks LR. Looks like from bolt face to lead should be 1.7008". Mine is around 1.66". Looks like I need to send it back.
