I just started building a new Grendel. My old one used a LW barrel. I put my upper together yesterday and wanted to see if I needed to adjust my dies.
I have five rounds of factory AA 120g NBTs. Tried one and the bullet stuck in the lands.
I have three different reloads, NBT 120g, 123SMK, and 123 Lapua.
The SMK is the only one to cycle without sticking. Loaded at 2.260".
I made a dummy round and installed my Hornady ogive (?) tool on my calipers.
Using a 123g Lapua, I found that at 2.665 I can still feel the bullet sticking in the lands. At 2.658" the bullet is free.
The measurement of 2.658" = 2.215" oal.
My thoughts are I can load this round to around 2.200" +\- and be fine. However am I correct that I will not be able to shoot factory rounds? As in is my chamber too tight?
