Got a new gun room toy!!!!

Yes, im pretty excited and a few years behind...

I finally got a stainless steel media tumbler and some stainless media!

Thumblers tumbler, the red one... all the reveiws ive read on them were really good and it was one of the highest reccommended tumblers one all the sites ive looked at. Pretty big hopper too. Now i need a day off to put it together and tumble brass!

Whats everyone using in these things, the media, tsp of lemshine, and a cup or two of water? Whats the recipe yall use that shines up brass to the mirror shine we always here about with these stainless stell tumblers?!!

For mine, the reccomended recipe is:
      5lbs media
      1 gallon water
2lbs brass (Maybe 200 pieces for Grendel)
1-1/2 tbsp dish soap (e.g., dawn)
      1/4 tsp Lemishine
      tumble 2-3 hours

It's worked great, so I haven't tried any variations

Yes, Lemishine. But fill it up with water or you will get duller looking brass. Full of water and your brass will be VERY Shiney!!!

Hmm interesting, i figured if it wasnt quite full of water it would all tumble inside better... i guess the stainless steel is heavy enough if zips around through the water pretty well...

I de-prime before tumbling so the primer pockets come out mostly clean. The tumbled brass is clean inside and out.

I deprime, size then tumble. I leave my media in the tumbler at all times, put in my brass then fill up with HOT water. Then a couple squirts of dawn, a 9mm case of lemishine and tumble for 2 1/2 hours. Rinse in cold water. Comes out shinny, primer pockets clean looking good. Dry in a home made dryer built with a fan, light bulb for couple hours and ready to load.

Have any of you noticed any work hardening of your brass due to the action of the pins?

Not sure if this is a legit concern, but It has kept me from buying the set up.

SG4247, I would get the setup. It does an amazing job on brass. I don't believe that there is enough weight with the pins to do any damage to your brass. Like others, I de-prime then tumble for two hours. My recipe is a little different. Lemi shine, dish washing soap and about 2.5 lbs of media with tumbler three quarters full of water. After the first round of cleaning, brass gets cut to length if need be, sized, deburred/chamfered and then back in the tumbler for another hour to remove any lube and possible light scratches made from resizing. Some people don't like having to deal with liquids to clean brass but I feel it is a much cleaner process.

I don't run dirty brass through my dies...I deprime then clean (using a full bucket of water).

So, how many Grendel brass do you guys add to the drum per load?

I don't resize dirty brass either, makes the dies really dirty and could promote premature wear on them.

But my fired brass is usually pretty bad.
