JP would be a great choice.

    So would Precision Firearms.

    So would Lilja.

My lightweight Lilja-barreled Grendel is shooting .6 - .8 MOA with factory 123gr SST's right off the bat. At 480yds, rounds were stacking on top of each other on steel. There are several accuracy & reliability tweaks that I used when building the upper, starting with a square receiver face.

I went with the SAAMI chamber, since it has produced the best I accuracy that I have been able to see on several different rifles, from 100yds to 1200yds.

What barrel length/performance, and intended use are you looking at?

I was thinking 18 to 20 inch barrel. Want it for deer at mid range not sure how far out it's good for in that matter. And would like to be able to hit steel at 800/1000yrd.

Would 22 inch barrel be worth the extra weight?

If the primary use is deer-hunting, I would stick with an 18-20". If long-range target is the secondary, you will be fine, just use a 20 MOA base, get decent optics, and use a scope level, good ballistics program, good load, good build techniques for accuracy.

Great thanks. I do reload now for .45 and .223 so I'll just have to do a little research on loads for this round.

16- 18 inches of barrel generate plenty of energy for deer out to 500 yards.

I'll be placing my barrel order next week my question now is which barrel is the better one to go with it will be a 20 inch from Precision Firearms with a matched bolt and PF Super Match NiB Carrier with Nickel Boron Coating, Firing Pin, NiB Cam, Firing Pin Retainer. Unless there's a better set up for the money. I'm looking for the best I can get for reasonable cost.
Thanks for any input in this build.

Lilja barrels are button rifled, Krieger are cut rifled if that makes a difference. I don't think you can buy a Krieger assembled and ready to install directly from them.

Is cut rifling better then button rifled as far as Accuracy and barrel life?

My understanding is they won't sell you a Krieger in 6.5 Grendel chambered by them directly also. If I could have I would have preferred to.

I doubt there will be a difference in accuracy among the high end barrel makers, but from what I understand a cut rifled barrel should last longer. There are many on this forum who can answer this question better than I.

Barrel steel quality and hardness will be the main contributing factors to barrel life, all things equal. With the Grendel, chamber pressure is so low that we don't plasma blast the throat with converting propellant at higher pressures like a lot of other cartridges.

Mark will make you a concentric, very clean Krieger Grendel pipe and his uppers are one of the top billet upper receivers on the market. Receiver faces are square, and fit with his billet lowers are superb.

His ammo is really top-end as well. I was getting 7fps Extreme Spread with one of his 123gr Scenar loads years ago, which was my first exposure to his products.
