    My ongoing 12.5" Grendel build

Well my 14.5" CLGS Sabre Defence barrel has been measured to make sure the throat is right and is now on it's way to ADCO to be cut down to 12.5". I will hopefully receive it back in the next couple weeks and will be able to assemble.

    Specs:

    SBR lower

-12.5" Sabre barrel as described above (maxim bolt)
-Anderson lightweight upper (no forward assist or dust cover; will be lapped to insure square)
    -CMMG RKM 11" handguard
    -Seekins adjustable gas block
-AAC 51t blackout FH (have Saker 762 in stamp jail)

I'll take pics after assembly but I'm hoping with suppressor attached this gun will be about the same footprint/weight as my 18"

How did you measure the throat?

With a hornady oal gauge. 123sst hit at 2.275" which should be perfect. My 120 Accupoints can be seated even further. I also visually inspect it as best as I can. I am of the opinion that tx got a lemon when these barrels are typically known for being nice. My mlgs Sabre barrel was real nice.

What optic are you putting on it?

Been a fan of the Grendel from the very beginning and haven't second guessed that choice one time.

I picked-up Sabre 14.5 barrels, unfortunately I got one of the lemons. With the Hornady OAL gauge, the 123SST hit at 2.230 but with the 129SST I'm getting 2.280. Go figure? I was planning on using the 129s anyway, so I'll still be able to make a lot of lemonaid.

Looking forward to pics of your build, sound very interesting.

Very interested to see how your project performs! A CL Grendel barrel should last forever.

UPDATE: Received my shipping notification this morning on the barrel. Should have everything I need at this point. I was pleasantly surprised that the receiver face was square and didn't require lapping. I plan on bedding the barrel with blue loctite and am really hoping I can find a 1 MOA or better handload. I know it's a chrome-lined barrel but my last one was pretty accurate.

Here she is.. got her running like a top and grouping pretty good with handloads. I'm taking it out tonight on a pig hunt so hopefully I'll draw some blood. We shall see!

I'm building a 12.5" Grendel too and Im putting 11" rail on it. So I'm really loving your build! What buffer system are you using?

I was using a standard carbine but because of some gas issues and almost having to completely close my gas port on my agb, I switched to a spikes t2 to slow things down a bit.
