Wow, that looks great, I'd really like to try one in 6.5 Grendel, I'm hoping this will be Howa's next caliber to hit the market.

223, 204 and 7.62x39 ones are on the shelves here in Australia.

Available as barrelled actions, stocks should be on the shelves this week or next.

One bloke bought one in 223 and through the deft use of a hacksaw, putty and some screws got it into a Ruger 77 stock for initial trying out. He really likes it and has since ordered a 7.62x39mm one, with a notice to the importer that he wants the Grendel version NOW.

Been a fan of the Grendel from the very beginning and haven't second guessed that choice one time.

What calibers would work for the 6.5 bolt face, if you bought the action with barrel just to re barrel it , I know 7.62x39 works but what others

I copied this from another site.

Found this elsewhere and from looking at my shell holder reference chart it appears to be correct. Only difference is the shell holder chart doesn't state long or short action.

Try starting with a Savage and a drop-in barrel. You might be able to grt by with under a kilobuck including scope.

If you don't mind single-shot, Bullberry Barrel Works can make a nice one for for a bit more.

                        I can relate!

Even after shooting a few hundred 20 Grendel rounds through mqy Model 16, I still find the rear of the bolt to be plug ugly.

Rifle shoots well enogh that I have learned to ignore it!

My TC Encore by Bullberry Barrel Works runs like a charm too. They guarantee 1 moa with factory ammunition. The rifle definitely turns in decent groups even with my inexpensive Sightron 3-9x S-1 scope. I have gotten under 1/2 moa a few times but can find loads and wind conditions where the group size gets larger than 1 moa.

BTW, my work with Encore is for velocity and pressure measurements so accuracy has been a secondary consideration.

I have grendel barrels in both. I think I like the Pac Nor a little better. It seems to me that every 15th or so round the LW throws a "flyer". If you can call 1 inch away a flyer. Or maybe its just my shooting , both shot 1/2 groups when new.

It looks like neither offers the SAAMI chamber as standard. As Drift points out, that is not necessarily a detriment, especially since a bolt gunt gives more latitutude with respect to COAL, especially when the magazine is set up for the .243 Win.

PacNor did my 20 Grendel barrel, and I have been very happy with it.

Interesting, because this is a fairly common with LW barrels, multiple people have noted it. I had a great LW barrel in my first Grendel, but my shooting buddy, with a near identical setup, had that exact experience. I think we had a long thread on this on the old site.
