    South Dakota Build

Hey everyone, just wanted to drop in and say thank you to all of you. I've been on here for a while stalking all your posts and getting information for my build. I finally ordered pretty much the last piece and it should all be in next week to assemble.

I've wanted to build a Grendel for about 3 years and kept blowing my savings on handguns instead, but the time has come!

I'll give you want I can remember off the top of my head.

    Surplus Arms lower
    Spike LPK w/o trigger
    Velocity 3lb drop-in rigger
    Satern 20" barrel
    Bushmaster upper
    15" Slim KeyMod rail
    AXTS Raptor Charging handle
    Nickel Boron Carrier
    Ergo Sniper Grip
    Ergo F93 Pro Stock

I'm cerakoting he Upper/lower/rail easter front green as well as the wings of the charging handle. Barrel/brake will be black along with all he standard pins/parts in black.

Still hunting for an optic and a bipod, but otherwise I think I'm set! Just need a bit warmer weather.

Welcome aboard. Are you looking at a hunting rig, target, or dual-purpose?

Mostly dual purpose. I'd like to be able to reach out and touch paper but realistically 95% of my shots will be 300yds are less.

      I was looking a Vortex HST 6-24x50

I've spent some time in the western part of the state, but never Sioux Falls.

I have a HS-LR FFP 6-24 x 50 with the XLR reticle on my 6.5 Creedmoor and PST FFP 6-24 x 50 with the EBR-2C reticle on my Grendel. However, I plan on taking most of shots PAST 300 yds for my SD prairie dog hunts (I have a .204 Ruger and 5.56 AR for the under 300 yd shots). The Vortex scopes are great, but I'd say that if you are going to be less than 300 yds, the 6-24 is overkill. You can save $$ and be just as happy (useful magnification) with the 4-16 x 44, i would think.
My "6.5" = 24" AA Overwatch upper 1/9 twist, NC based US Tactical lower, standard A4 6 position stock, AR Gold Trigger, JPS SCS buffer, Vortex 6-24 x 50 FFP PST with EBR-2C MOA reticle

The 4-16 was my first thought, I'm hoping I can get a hold of them both and compare them side by side

If you get a Vortex, make sure you get the Switchview throw lever, or you won't be changing magnification without a lot of effort - even WITH the lever, it's really stiff. Don't know why they had to make it that way. http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/...row-lever-sv-1

Here she is pre-cerakote. I'm have the barrels and brake done in black, the rest of what you see will be Eastern Front Green. I'll leave the fwd assist and all the pins black.

You'll have to let me know how you like the velocity trigger. I just ordered one today!
