Newbie and first range with new Grendel

Hey all love this forum and finally can contribute!!!
I just finished my first AR build A 6.5 Grendel ----It is a billeted 80% lower in FDE mated with an Alexander Arms 20" Match grade Shilen barrel in Stainless 1:9 Twist with a Vitor Flash Hider.IT came with a Midwest Industries Free float handguard (added some trim), and finally the FDE T-PODQR TPOD foregrip/bipod. The Scope is a Vortex HS-T 6-24mm SFP with sunshade extension . I took it out for its maiden range day and using a chono we clocked the average fps out of the barrel at 2610 using Hornady AMAX 123 gr (which is really consistent with the box data 12620fps--great barrel!!) I hit paper at 100yds in sub MOA group and went out to steel at 330 ft no problem. Then I shot at 670 and hit a 2'x2' square steel plate no problem!!! Then tried the 1100 ysd steel and hit once (but tried about 15 times ouch!!)--it was really windy across the canyon that day (excuses excuses). Overall, awesome rifle, feeds well, smooth cycling right out of the gate..looking forward to hitting that 1100 yd target on a consistent basis. Cheers

Day one and tagging 1100 yards. Sounds like you've got a nice system. Good shooting

Yeah, a 24x24" target at 670yds isn't much of a challenge with the 6.5 Grendel. You're getting pretty fast speed from yours as well, which is nice.

My 16" AA barrel shoots a lot faster than I expected.
