    Space Coast Grendel Build

I think I'm off to a good start. I have an AA barrel, bolt, & upper receiver in the air. Along with mags, gas block & tube, bolt carrier.

I want to find a 15inch M-lok or Keymod hand-guard,, that fits my incoming gas block.

UPDATE: Just found out the gas block is the Damage industries lo pro, 1.355 H x 0.900 W

I'll post pic's when the bits arrive. Also, I need to measure the gas block.

Right now, I would appreciate advice on the hand-guard. I would like light, but what is a coast effective "light" weigh? My price point is between 150-200, if that's realistic?? I am not brand name centric, but appreciate quality and willing to pay for it, with a Scottish sense of frugality (used & ugly is good).. I think 10oz is the middle of the light weights??

I do not plan to build a lower. I have a Factory built Spikes(5.56) and AA Beowulf. My battle plan does not cover mass charges by mutant ninja muzzie zombies or the girl scouts. Although I am a FAG FOG, I only shoot one weapon at a time.

Additionally, I'll be looking at a 30 cal can.

1)suggestions on can, I like Silencerco, but I'm not married to them.
2)suggestions on a Space Coast (Melbourne - Orlando) outfit to thread the barrel.

    Thanks for your opinions..

I am going with the Force 15 inch rail on my build. I picked it up for 190 or so off Ebay as it was cheaper than buying direct from Rainier http://www.ar15news.com/2014/02/07/n...d-rail-system/ Not sure on the weight but it is light to me.

Welcome. Sounds like a nice "build"
Where in the Emerald Isle are you from?

By Emerald Isle, I assume you mean the quote. I am 4th gen. My g-g-parents were from County Kerry. They came over in the mid-1880t's.

Spent the last couple hours with my Google-Foo researching hand guards.

Looks like Troy, CMMG, and Midwest have keymod & m-lok units at good prices, between 150-200 USD.

The MI SSK-15 is at or just under 10 oz. The others I can't find weights.

The carbon models are lighter, but so is your wallet,, after the purchase..

Also received tracking, the barrel, bolt, & GB should land Tuesday..

The AP Customs Gen II carbon fiber handguards are great, within your budget, and are extremely lightweight.

They show the 1st gen, but are shipping the Gen II in my experience.

This project is moving fast. All of the following should land by Tuesday PM.

              AA Grendel marked upper
AA Grendel barrel, 22" cut to 17"
              AA Grendel bolt
              Seekins SP3R 15" rail
              gas block, Damage Industries lo-pro
gas tube, firing pin, cam pin, retainer, carrier, charging handle

I am thinking I will do a modest trigger upgrade to my AA Beowulf lower, so I have started to read all on triggers.

I installed an ALG QMS trigger w/ JP springs, you will be hard pressed to find a better trigger for $60+/-

If your barrel is 16" or longer I don't think you can beat the Omega, also has a new end cap you can buy to replace the muzzle break on the can. Dead Air Sandman S has no barrel mins. They also have a one hand off, on. I also like the Griffin Armament Recce 7 and 30SD
                  Sandman S on

                  Sandman-S off

                  Recce7 endurance test

                  30SD
12.5" SBR Grendel - Need Barrel
                  Surge - Rugged Suppressor
Been a fan of the Grendel from the very beginning and haven't second guessed that choice one time.

My 1st purchase when the trust is finalized, will be a Silencerco Sparrow, with an Omega shortly after..

                    Thanks
