    Tom meet the Grendel

Spring Turkey season opened yesterday here in Texas, managed to call up a pair of Toms to the edge of the tree line about a 160 yards out and the Grendel did it's job with a DRT neck shot.

Lucky all we can use in michigan is archery equipment or shotgun and shotguns as we know are for people who don't know how to aim

What kind of load do you use for turkey, if I may ask?

Just about anything will work. The trick is to shoot them in a non-edible part when using a rifle so you have something left to eat. Just behind the legs works good also. Congrats on the tom. Joseph

Hornady A-Max. As Joseph said shot 'em in the part you don't eat!

                Nice burd , Heorot!
Grendelized, sniped - Toms taste better than lead pellet infused burds. Way to go !

I figured most rifle rounds would kill a tom ; ) just thought maybe you loaded something special for hunting them.

Haven't started loading for the Grendel yet, been real happy with the 123 gr. A-Max to date.

                      Nice turkey!
Unfortunately using a rifle on turkey isn't allowed here in Alabama.

We can't hunt Eastern turkeys with a rifle, only Rio Grandes.
