There are so many possibilities. If brass is available then that helps but new mags would still need to be made.
The "12" as I made them a few years ago will handle a 308 sized cartridge. If I make an entirely new platform with a 2.5" overall w orking length with a mag well wide enough to handle the 308 and everything smaller PPC or 6.8 sized brass could be used. The bolts, carriers and upper receivers aren't a problem. GOOD mags and brass are the largest problems I see. We'll keep kicking it around in the spare time.
