Ahh! My real name is Scepurek (A polish name). I was a CH-53 driver and at the time, a (now deceased) Cobra Driver couldn't say my name so he dubbed me "Sputnik" and my family as my satellites. He was the most senior 1/Lt in the USMC at that time and was highly respected. He had his fitrep expunged for punching out a Major at the O'club in the Phillipines. By the time he was promoted to Captain and his original date of rank restored, he was almost in zone for Major. He plowed-in his Cobra during a hotdog flight in Spain in 1979/80, but my "Handle" stuck!
