And it isn't just one "nuanced" interview. See post #8.

Since this is the United States, I think the attitude of Europeans toward suppressors is not quite as important as that of the current POTUS: "I don’t like them at all."

Stan:

Yep -- you are right. And he may push to ban them. Could happen. Probably won't but certainly could happen. I guess we need to cast our vote for Biden or Sanders in 18 months. Surely Biden or Sanders would never think of banning suppressors.

Seems that just when one of these threads needs to just slowly disappear, you remind us that in your opinion Trump is not pro 2A.

Won't work Stan.

Lr: Here you are trolling my thread again. Why did you feel the need to bring politics in to it?

Additionally, Stan's opinion of the presidents stance on the 2a is backed by facts, actions, not just the presidents words, which tend to change. It's the reason to be concerned about his new found interest in suppressors.

 I did not express my opinion of Trump. I only quoted him.

As to Trump's attitude toward the 2A, that was shown by his action in prohibiting the ownership and possession of a firearm accessory that even the ATF had considered legal.

Lazy's prediction on here's how that's going to play out: The bumpstock device ban, that Trump banned by decree, is going to be overturned by the courts. The US Congress will then pass legislation to legally actually ban them. When they do so, other devices such as binary triggers (which actually DO require a conscious willful act to cause the gun to discharge every round), will likely also be caught up in that dragnet. It will get signed.

As to Trump pro/anti second: I look forward to whatever better option people are thinking of. In the meantime, we've had a stay on nation-wrecking judicial nominees. Jimmy Carter's Federal judge Marianna Pfaelzer, single handedly destroyed California.

Trump on Silencers - keystone183 - 06-08-2019

Lazy: Unfortunately, the courts have already upheld the bumpstock ban. Several of them (courts that is). Also unfortunately, the precedent set by this action leaves just any firearm accessory open to the same fate. Or, perhaps semiautomatic rifles, with enough mental gymnastics. And lord knows.. gov is good at that.

Keystone:

I will tell you why. Because I am a moderator here. And I will intervene when I think things are not going the way they should.

If you don't like it -- go to Blunt Force Trauma and demand I be removed from my voluntary position as one of the mods here.

I will give you a month to think about calling me or any other moderator here a 'troll'.

Guys:

One thing to disagree with me or one of my actions. I can accept that pretty easily.

Stan said I was wrong with my assessment of his post. Roger -- no problem. I can live with that.

Calling me a troll is a different matter. Sorry but that goes beyond what any moderator on any forum would tolerate.

Again -- if you guys think that BFT needs to remove me as a mod, petition him and get me removed.

As for politics, it is impossible to discuss the 2A without it being political. The existence of the 2A is due to policies created by politicians.

You're doing fine by me, 55. I petition for BFT to promote you to chief moderator... Lol!!!

My only complaint is your propensity for locking threads. I would petition BFT to have you removed, but I'm afraid that he might ask me to take your place. Wink

Stan:

Ten percent of your people take up 90 percent of your time. By far the most threads I have locked have been 2A so I wouldn't say that LR55 has a propensity to lock threads. I have done so in other forums and just like the 2A forum, only after repeated warnings and sometimes with questions that hopefully get the thread back on track.

I do not like policing the 2A forum because it either ends up with guys repeating their arguments, insulting each other, or turns into a forum for guys to rant about things that never were part of the thread, let alone the 2A.

However, I will not ignore the 2A forum either because sometimes people can actually keep a decent 2A thread going and the information they provide is sound. Unfortunately, I have only seen a couple of 2A threads that actually got into the history of the 2A and what it means today. The rest have ranged from pure rumors to resurrecting a policy or some sort of proposed legislation that died years and sometimes decades ago.

Also, I do not like seeing people argue for the sake of arguing. If I detect someone is arguing simply to argue, I will first tell them to stop and if it continues I normally lock the thread. I rarely ban someone because I do not like banning people. Comes from being forced to hand out Article 15's when I commanded. Never liked doing it but sometimes necessary.

Bottom line is this. I will not ignore the 2A forum and I most certainly will lock threads that have turned into a web of arguments that mostly concern word use and semantics, or turn into bizarre rants. That is when it is time to end the discussion. And for every thread I have locked in another forum, I have locked ten in the 2A forum. Other mods don't want to deal with it anymore. I don't either but do not expect me to change how I mod the 2A forum any time soon.

LR -- Well Said!!

Bravo!

Trump on Silencers - RMiller - 06-09-2019

Why is Switzerland the only Nation Germany left alone during WWII?

Because Switzerland bankrolled Germany during WWII. That was easy to answer.

Trump on Silencers - grayfox - 06-09-2019

For a nominal fee of course!!! profiting off of others' miseries.
If Adolf had succeeded he would have subjugated/wiped out the Swiss as well.
more "Lebensraum"...

Yes, my statement was imprecise. I was referring to the large number of locked threads in Room 2A. And to the fact that you locked my last thread -- on the very same subject as this one -- before there was even a single response, let alone a heated argument.

Sure did.

And now I will lock this thread because instead of you taking what I wrote to heart, you had to keep this dead horse alive by adding another two cents worth.

So this thread is locked too.
