-Edit, just finished the trigger job, cut then used dremel to flatten spring end, lubed everything with Tetra grease, dang fine trigger indeed!
-Edit, final cut on barrel ended up at 15.1 inches, moded KAW Valley linear comp to make it 16.25"
-Weight, 5.3lbs.

Thanks, it is turning out better than expected. Totally stripped, recoil pad, sling swivels off, it measured within a few grams of 2lbs before I started on it, now almost exactly 1.5lbs. I normally get a bit to carried away, like I should of left it a bit longer up front than I did but I can work with it as old shoulder injuries make it hard to reach out very far. Also I started drilling through the bottom as you can see just before the screw on front edge of the bottom plastic(soon to be metal) then stopped after two holes...
I will probably fill the stock with expanding foam and use some low weight material in the bottom of the forend, a blend of lightweight bondo and epoxy should do the job as quite strong when blended, maybe some fiberglass bondo/lightweight bondo/epoxy mixed together using, 20/60/20 percent and test it out.
All the factory flashing, sharp angles on the forend, etc, were rounded over and sanded smooth, around the bolt area, bottom, etc....all done and then heat gun treated to make them nice and clean looking.
I might take another 1/2 inch off the stock if I find the right recoil pad I would want to use, need a very low weight one but also nice and soft, again old shoulder injuries, part of why I am not looking to make this rifle super light. LOP is 13", I like 12.5".
I would prefer a bit lighter and more compact scope, illuminated, 2-8, etc but might have to with a 1-8 though none I know of that I would buy, budget wise, are really lower in weight. I really like a daylight bright red dot type scope like the Leupold's I have, just wish they were more than 1.5-4, 1.5 I can live with just fine so a 2-8 should be OK as well.

I have had an MTD chassis in a shopping cart for awhile now but wanted to give the factory stock a go first and it seems it will be all I need.

First post has the current status, just waiting on the DPI bottom metal and mag release and barrel threading then finally to the range
I have a bunch of American Gunner listed for sale but just saw the thread with accuracy issues with ELD which I have a bunch of so I am going test and decided which to keep, glad I saw the thread!

Bottom metal arrived, a bit tricky getting their mag release installed, really like them both
Getting close to testing, thought it would be done by now but it took a lot of time to get the barrel and linear comp where I wanted them to be, hours with the dremmel and a few to many good brews
Figuring out the bedding I want to use then a few more tweaks, test fire, pics, etc... to come.

There is the carbon fiber option but at very high cost and I found I do not like shooting even the grendel if it weighs to little, my 4.2 pistol bruised my shoulder and finger at the stop.
The challenge of making the factory stock work is more fun to me than just buying more parts as well, great fun acutally

Pistol build, $2500 with a Faxon Gunner barrel, next was the custom barrel mentioned and 2A Balious Lite lower, would of been under 4lbs and well over $3000.
It just plain hurt to shoot it with my old shoulder injuries so I built a second one with same barrel and trigger, 4.7lbs, $1500.
Sold many of the high end parts, have some left in the for sale section, now selling off all my AR stuff, it was fun building 6 units in 1.5 years, never had an AR before then, going back to bolt gun which I prefer.
