While searching for info on Chinese special forces deployment to Syria, I came across this pic.
Looks like a copy of the M4 carbine; in caliber 5.56x45, judging by the shape of the magazine.

Can't believe everything you read on the interweb. Especially when it comes to firearms.
Interesting that they effectively developed and fielded the piston AR equivalent a full 7 years before it became mainstream here in the US. All the people touting the piston here used the AK, Mini 14, and M1 as justification.

Google the Colt Model 703 (if you don't already know about it). Colt developed it in 1969.

Key word was mainstream. Lot of stuff designed way back when in the before time, that it took someone else to market it and make it sell.
