AFAIK, martial law has not been imposed. I don't know if he used the term out of ignorance, or for dramatic effect.

As has been seen in many Room 2A discussions, folks often get very emotional when they think rights are violated.

And with these lockdowns, a number of rights have been violated. I'm surprised that more people haven't spoken up.

Never saw a part of the Constitution that says someone has a right to infect others with a highly contagious and extremely deadly virus.

Also, gun stores in Washington State are wide open while other retail places are closed. Gun stores are open here because ordering them closed would violate the 2A. And our Governor just tried to ban all semi automatic rifles and large capacity magazines so is no lover of the 2A.

That said, if this thread continues, it better focus on the 2A and not someones thoughts about being restricted from walking down a beach or street.

Easter morning worship services in a few places were broken up by cops. One that was in the parking lot with people in their cars and the cars over 6 feet apart with the windows up and the service broadcast on the radio were told by cops not observing social distancing of > 6 feet to leave or they would write tickets and the fine would be $500. Go to any store including gun store and see if you see social distancing.

We can still go down the beach...But... gun shops across Australia have been closed by the State Governments. Primary Producers (farmers), Vets, Police/Military and Licensed vermin controllers have special permission to to purchase ammunition however the Police are no longer processing applications for new guns.

I am aware there is a run on guns and ammo in the US however the international narrative has couched it as self-defence in a gun culture. Maybe, but I image a lot of consumer just want to ensure they have enough ammo to continue their hobby.

Take note..This is a case study of what happens when you don't have a 2A. In a crisis, the Government errs on the side of caution. I have no further opinion on the matter as I think our government is doing a good job.

The Las Vegas Strip is closed, barricades in front of the hotels and casinos, drove down the other day to take a look. Saw where someone had spray painted graffitti on a building, it said: They will use fear to control you Kinda thought provoking. Tyranny always starts with small things those in power will claim they are doing to protect you and help you. There are lots of people who relish power and control who never hesitate to seize the moment and eventually they will come for your guns so government abuse of power will eventually get to be a 2A issue. Actually that is what the 2A is all about...defense against abuse of power and tyranny. Just some random thoughts.

I’ve been working in Cocoa Beach for the last 2 weeks doing shower rebuilds in a condo. Anyway it was the hight of spring break and the beach looked like a ghost town. Everything was closed.Even the Inner room! We usually like going there at lunchtime to get a beer. Bummer!

I dunno if these lockdowns will become a 2A issue, but there were some armed citizens participating in the Michigan protest today.

A lot of folks are upset by the loss of their liberty and jobs, and the longer the restrictions last, the angrier people are going to get.

The Governor of Michigan is way over her head with this situation. The more leftist and liberal they are, the less able to deal with stress and the more stupid the regulations.

As far as I can tell, no state has infringed on anyone's 2A rights unless you consider public and private ranges being closed with other sports and other public gathering venues as an infringement of one's 2A rights.

The 2A Forum is primarily about the 2A and so far this thread has not been about the 2A.

I will now use a prophylaxis on this thread in order to keep it from turning into a pandemic of stupid accusations and arguments over nothing related to the 2A.
