Howa mini stock accuracy issues - Dt219 - 11-22-2022
I just picked up a new howa mini 20 in 6.5. I took the stock off to sand on as it was touching on one side. Anyways I got it opened up and went out to break it in and get a general idea as to how accurate a grendel bolt gun could be. Well results was a little disappointing. Some factory ammo would shoot 1 one minute and 2 the next. My reloads acted about the same which was weird to me as well as my poi changed also numerous times. The stock alone is not a prize in my opinion but not pure trash either, the bottom plastic however is pure trash. Yea I know it was a $500 gun and it shoots but could the bottom plastic cause the stock to warp or twist from uneven torque one way or the other. I know it has pillars installed but they are about pointless using the factory bottom metal. I dont think its a stable enough platform from the factory

Problem the bottom plastic gives is inability to do a proper torque on the action screws. So yeah, that will impact you.
I never liked the stock either, which is why I've always upgraded it, whether axis, ruger predator, Howa mini or whatever. I figure that is part of the cost of getting a good-shooting rifle. Doesn't have to be an extravagant cost but it is an important one anyway.
Get one of the bottom metals of Hokey pokey, Dip inc, Oregun, or a chassis (my route) where bottom metal is unnecessary.
Some guys defend the plastic stock and to each his own, but for me it's unsatisfactory.

Did you double check your scope and mounts? A moving POI often is a scope issue. Inconsistency can be the stock but this sounds like scope mounts or internal issues. Maybe retighten it all down and swap to a known good scope?

I will swap scope for good measure, its never had any trouble. Mounts are tight.
