Toughest bullet in 90 to 100 gr size - 603Country - 01-25-2024
Recently I was griping about my heavy Grendel AR, and decided to go with a 16 barrel to lighten it up. One other issue with the rifle is its length, with the 20 barrel. Just too long in small enclosed blinds. I keep clunking into things. But with the shorter barrel, Ill lose 100 fps, and the 123 gr SST isnt exactly screaming along in the first place. Im thinking about going to a lighter bullet. I just dug into the bullet pile, and have 100 of the 100 gr Nosler BTs, so I can switch to that, since I dont need them for the 260. Still, Id like to have another bullet option thats about that weight. That takes me to several options, none of which are considered actual hunting bullets. I have some 95 gr V-Max already, and have killed a big hog or two with that bullet, so it will work and is a relatively inexpensive plinking bullet. Another option, if they could be obtained is the Speer 90 TNT, and theres the 100 gr Sierra HP. Of the three, the V-Max, TNT, and Sierra HP, which do you consider to be the toughest for pig use with the Grendel. Im sure some of you serious pig blaster guys have tried them all.

When it comes to hogs/pigs, one name jumps to the top of the heap. Double Naught Spy.
Take a look at his great videos for tons of good info.
If I recall correctly, he has quite good results with the 90 TNT.

I have seen a bunch of his videos, and enjoyed every one. Id get the 90 gr TNTs if they could be found, just based on his liking them. But, Internet search shows that some folks think the Sierra 100 gr HP is tougher than the TNT. Certainly someone on this forum will have tried them, and I trust the word of real Grendelians.

'What does "tough" mean to you. The Sierra 100 gr. HP is "tougher" than the TNT, what would that mean?
I am confused. You are talking about "tough" bullets and includinge v-max, tnt, etc. in the mix, none of which are tough at all.

Would 100gr Nosler Partitions be considered a "tough" bullet? What about any of the all-copper monolithic bullets from Barnes & other manufacturers?
