mag issues

Hello,
I installed the DIP bottom metal and mag release on my son's mini then sent it to have pillars and glass bedding. Picked it up yesterday and the mag is a beast to get in and even harder to get out. I sanded corners in hopes the mag was a bit too large or hanging on a corner, no luck. I sanded the nipple that actually locks the mag to the release and this helped a lot. The mag goes in easier and sometimes drops on its own but when it doesn't drop needs minimal manipulation to remove. I thought my problem was solved but actually it got worse. Well, I can't say for sure as I did not cycle rounds previously to test feeding. I filled the mag began to cycle. the first 3 cycle without issue. The last 2, especially the 5th round, get stuck at the bottom of the feed ramp. I found that if I push the bottom of the mag up, it works. I will order a new mag as I'm thinking I may have ruined this one by sanding it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

i think, by sanding down the tip of the release lever, it allows the front of the magazine to sit lower in the magazine well. this may be why the rounds are pointing at the bottom of the feed ramp. you may need to get a new release lever. after you get a new release lever, put a very thin washer between the dip metal and the stock on the back action screw and see if this helps with getting the magazine in far enough for the new magazine release lever to latch the magazine in place. hopefully, with the front of the magazine just a wee bit higher in the mag well with the new release lever the rounds will be pointing at the feedramp and not below it. just my hypothesis based upon your description. there may be something else too that is compounding the issue, but without being there and examining the fit of everything it is very hard to say for sure.

tdbru, Thanks for your insight. It's not the release the was sanded, it's the mag. I'm going to order a new mag and hopefully it fits better. The washer behind the rear action screw may help the angle too. Thanks again.

Increase your torque on the action screws by 5lb's and see what happens.

Do the front screw first and test and then the rear screw and retest.

Best way to fix that I've found (had one with the plastic stock, then a Boyds) is get the B&C stock, either one if you have the 22" or regular barrel, M40 if you have the 20" HB. Then the Dip and everything fits great.
Problem with the plastic one is it flexes...
But try A5's idea first sometimes the Dip can make even the plastic stock work ok.
