As the title says, I'm close to pushing the button a custom Krieger 6.5G barrel.
Specs I'm choosing unless I shouldn't.
Summary of Order:
Service Rifle Type:

Muzz. Diam.: 0.920 IN
Twist Rate: 1-7.5 Inches

Chamber Type: 6.5MM Grendel
Parts: Barrel Extension
And I'll probably get a JP superbolt from them at the same time.
Planning to order by Friday unless there is a better option.(the other thing tempting me is the BSF carbon barrel, but it comes in 20" max length)

I don't think you can go wrong with a Krueger. Expensive, but first class!

That's going to be a long and heavy gun. Not my cup of tea but Kreiger has a great rep and I'm sure you will enjoy it.
(you could build an AR10 in 6.5Creedmore and have a gun that is both shorter and lighter, while capable of achieving what a 24"Gr can do).

I like your thinking about an AR-10.
When I saw the muzzle diameter of .920" and a 24" length I thought the same thing.
That will be a barbell.
I have a BHW 18" bull barrel and it is as heavy as I would want.

My AA 20" is heavy enough that I will probably only use it for drive in hunting trips. This one sounds even heavier unless it's fluted.

I already have a 12"ish pistol and a fluted 18"er. So this will be for maximum accuracy and longe range performance from a bench or maybe a tripod. But i will admit I hadnt really thought how heavy it would be......
Klem as to the creedmore, Ill look into it but Ive always tried to keep the minimum # of diff calibers. The barrel is $480.00.

For what you want it for, it should be a great choice.

Ive dealt with two kreiger Grendel barrels and both had minimum spec chambers. Thats just the reamer kreiger specs out. You couldnt load a factory round by hand and have it drop out. Shot good, just tight, a little too tight for my liking. Reamed both out with my Manson reamer and they feed and extract much smoother. And as an added bonus both will shoot cloverleaf ten shot groups now. Just be prepared to check that out.

For bench, go for it, I had a 24” 556 fluted bull barrel that weighed in at about 4.25 lbs. managed to wear it out in a little over 2 years with about 7-8k down the pipe. Heavy long barrel = light recoil = more trigger time.

Guess you won't be shooting it in any sort of formal competition.
Barrel will be way too heavy and awkward for anything other than a rest.
7 1/2 twist? Not normal for a 6.5. 8 twist is normally considered the ideal twist for the 130 and 140's. Wonder why Krieger is making one in 7 1/2? Probably because they are looking at barrels for super long range blasters firing 150 grain 6.5 bullets or some of the very long match grade bullets made these days. You may want to consider a 8 twist. I would.

I have a Krieger 6mm grendel build that shoots 1/2 MOA when I do my part.
I wold imagine a 65grendel will do the same.
They are expensive.
My cheaper grendel barrel shoots just as good after lapping the bore with tubbs final finish.
Shoots 1/2 inch with 123 Amax over ARcomp.

I was going with the 7.5 twist because I've read that will help keep the bullet stable longer once it reaches transonic(I think thats the word) speeds.

I have a 24" Krieger, bull,1/8, from Precision. Shoots 1/2" or less. Zero problems and I have won a couple of 600Y, F-class matches with it. It is heavy.

I love my 24" Lilja . It's slings 123gr to 2675fps with no pressure signs . I could probably get over 2700fps if I didn't care about brass life . I'm gonna rebarrel my howa 1500 to either a 6mm Grendel or just a regular Grendel . It will be a 26" long throat varmint profile for 600yd f class style shooting.

I have a Krieger 26" on a space gun. It's an excellent shooter. My only complaint is that Krieger uses a SAMMI minimum spec reamer which doesn't have a lot of freebore. It works great for berger 130s seated to mag length but I could only seat 123 scenars out to 2.250. I could seat out to 2.280 with the same bullet in a barrel I got from precision firearms. You can always have the barrel throated to whatever freebore you need but it's an extra step.
